Hello,
I realize that I am a terrible blogger and I am very sorry for my complete absence the last few days. If there are any readers left I would be happy to tell you all about the last few days. Also a very sad side note I will not be posting any pictures on this post because the Internet here is very slow and I cannot post many at a time. I know... you might as well stop reading now (This is a JOKE. Please do not take this seriously).
Okay, first off I guess I should give a brief outline as to why I am here in London. I am taking two classes. 1st, Harry Potter in Context and 2nd, Intermediate poetry. For English, I am writing a nice long 10-12 page long paper and for Poetry I need to write 11 poems (if I am not mistaken).
Okay, now that I have given a nice little intro, I can talk about what I've been seeing the last few days.
Tuesday: First we went to the National Gallery where we saw beautiful paintings (originals) from Van Gogh to Da Vinci. I also saw Rembrandt :) Thence we went to the British Library where we saw a small museum that included Jane Austen's writing desk, original scores by Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, the original Magna Carta, and many other historical works. We then traversed the tube (the London Underground) and walked around London before we came back to the dorms and rested.
Wednesday: The next day we went to the British Museum that included Rosetta's Stone, the remnants of the Parthenon, and Mummies There were artifacts from all types of civilizations that I was only able to rush past and snap pictures of (pictures available at a different date). After the Museum we were groundlings at the Globe's production of All's Well that End's Well. It was beautifully performed but I was not fond of the play itself. You'll have to read it yourselves to understand why.
Thursday: We went to the Poetry Library and the book store Foyles this day where I bought a book of Rilke's poems (He's one of my favorite poets). We also went to Sherlock Holmes Restaurant and had a wonderful meal. Then we dropped by a great comic book store where we perused the shelves and enjoyed the books and paraphernalia immensely.
Friday: Today was another busy day full of museums. We went to the two Tate museums: Tate Briton and the Tate Modern. The Moderns was my favorite except for the Ophelia and the Lady of Shalott in the Briton. There were a few others I absolutely loved but I cannot remember the name :/
Anyway, that was just the bare minimum and I wish I could share all my adventures but I'm too tired and it would take just too long.
Enjoy and Have a wonderful day/night where'er you are,
Katrina (Elise)
